Constructed in 1885 (on the site of six previous theater buildings) the National Theater is one of the oldest continually operating theater organizations in America. The restoration of 1982-84 was an integral part of the revitalization on Pennsylvania Avenue. The theater mainly hosts mega-musicals, check the D.C. newspapers for current attractions.
